Competitive Company
At Dancer Strong we promote a positive, healthy competitive dance experience. We view competitions as an opportunity for our company and crew dancers to perform and be critiqued by industry professionals outside of our Dancer Strong Family. All of our pieces use age appropriate costuming, music, and choreography.
Company
Dancer Strong Company is designed for the student who is highly motivated in the performing arts. Students selected to be in the company take classes in multiple genres. The company is divided into groups by age and skill level, and they compete as well as perform throughout the Metroplex. Age and weekly hours vary depending on level and how many dances the dancer is selected for.
Hip Hop Crew
Our hip hop team is designed for students who enjoy hip hop dance and want to focus primarily on that style. This team attends regional dance competitions, may travel to compete at the national level along with performing at local community events and parades.
Tap
Our tap team is designed for students who enjoy tap dance and want to focus primarily on that style. This team attends regional dance competitions, may travel to compete at the national level along with performing at local community events and parades.
Teamwork makes the dream work!
Through teamwork, our dancers are able to share their gifts with the world and grow in the process. When performing at a competition, every dancer’s energy and focus needs to be matched. Each member of the team motivates one and other while lifting their collective performance to new heights. From timing to performance quality, partner work to spatial awareness – every dancer’s spirit and strength is needed to nail a piece. Being on a dance team is no different than tackling your next team project at work. Our dancers excel by building trust and understanding! Learning how to be on a team is important for every chapter of our lives!
The big picture of hard work!
Being on a team is motivational in more ways than you can count! Each of our dancers has individual goals to improve their technique and performance, but with their dance besties by their side, the work looks and feels different. Our dancers work harder and have more fun knowing everyone on the team is in the same boat. By staying disciplined and pushing resiliently through difficult challenges, your dancer will confidently be able to tackle any obstacle thrown their way. Being on a team will transform their work ethic!
Dancers lead and follow!
Just like choreography, dancers learn how to lead and follow in rehearsal, performance, and on a team. We provide individual opportunities for our dancers to shine while stepping into leadership roles guiding younger dancers on the team. Dancers work on communication skills, build confidence, and learn the importance of being a leader.
Dancers begin their training by learning to follow their instructors and other dancers in class and performance. They hone their observation skills making them excellent students and stronger technicians. Just as dancers learn to lead, they learn the importance of following first and foremost. This teaches them understanding, patience, and flexibility. Skills we could all use!
Teammates make the best friends!
The most magical lesson our dancers learn while being on a team is the beauty and strength of friendship. Being surrounded by other dancers with your shared goals forms a special bond between dancers. They understand your sacrifice, passion, and LOVE FOR DANCE!
Through difficult times and unforgettable memories, your teammates become your soulmates! Dance team is where you’ll find friends who have your back, always there to be your therapist, hairdresser, cheerleader, and best of all, family!.
